Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in a timber frame kit?

Every kit includes all pre-cut, pre-engineered timber frame components: posts, beams, plates, rafters, braces, and traditional joinery hardware (white oak pegs, steel connectors where needed). You receive a complete structural skeleton ready for assembly. Roofing, siding, and finishing materials are not included — we supply the bones, you build the dream.

What is the lead time after ordering?

Standard lead time is 8–12 weeks from order confirmation to delivery. Custom designs add 2–3 weeks for the design phase. We'll provide an exact timeline when you place your order, and keep you updated throughout production.

How does shipping work?

We ship nationwide via flatbed freight. Kits are carefully palletized and strapped for transit. Delivery is curbside to your build site. For most locations in the continental US, freight is included in the kit price. Remote locations may have a delivery surcharge — we'll quote that upfront.

Do I need PE-stamped engineering plans?

Most jurisdictions require PE-stamped structural plans for a building permit. We offer PE-stamped engineering packages as an add-on for your specific state and locality. Let us know where you're building and we'll confirm what's needed.

Can I install the kit myself?

Yes. Our kits are designed for assembly by a competent builder or experienced DIYer with a crew. All joints are pre-cut and numbered, and we provide detailed assembly documentation. Many customers work with a local general contractor or timber frame assembly crew. We can recommend assembly partners in your area if needed.

What wood species are available?

Our standard kits are cut in Eastern White Pine — a proven timber framing species that's strong, workable, and cost-effective. We also offer Douglas Fir and White Oak upgrades for projects that need additional strength or a different aesthetic. Sale prices shown are for Eastern White Pine.

What happens after I claim a kit or inquire?

After you submit your inquiry, a member of our team will reach out within 1 business day to discuss your project, confirm specifications, answer questions, and provide a detailed quote. There's no commitment — we want to make sure the kit is right for your build before you order.

Can I customize a standard kit design?

Absolutely. Most of our kits can be modified — adjusted dimensions, different pitch, added bays, or other structural changes. For $500, we'll create a fully custom design with an interactive 3D model. The design fee applies as a credit toward your kit purchase.
